On behalf of the Tanzania Government Flight Agency (TGFA) President’s Office,
Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites competent, experienced, highly
organized and self-motivated to fill 2 vacant posts mentioned below;
1.0 TANZANIA GOVERNMENT FLIGHT AGENCY (TGFA)
Tanzania Government Flight Agency (TGFA) was established under the Executive
Agencies Act No.30 of 1997 (as amended) and came into effect on 17th May, 2002 as
per the Government Notice No. 193 published on the same date. TGFA took over the
functions of the Government Flying Unit under the then Ministry of Communications and
Transport (currently Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication) with the purpose
of providing air transport services in a more efficient, cost effective and business-like
manner to the Government.
The Agency have also a new role of procurement of
Government aircraft on behalf of the Government, providing technical support, general
management of the Aircraft and managing the lease agreements between the
Government and Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL). The Agency was then
transferred from the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication to the President’s
Office, State House through Government Notice No.252 of 2018.
1.1 SENIOR PILOT 2 POSTS
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To ensure safe and efficient operation of the aircraft in all stages of ground and
flight operations;
ii. To plan and supervise the execution of Agency’s flights in accordance with legal
and Agency’s policies and procedures, authorized checklists and to ensure safe,
efficient and economical operation;

iii. To co-ordinate the flight preparations according to directives and procedures;
iv. To ensure that the checklist and standard operating procedures are adhered to
and thoroughly carried out;
v. To be responsible for the safety of all crew members, passengers and cargo
onboard when the doors are closed;
vi. To give all commands he deems necessary for the purpose of securing the
safety of the aircraft and of persons or property carried therein;
vii. To disembark any person or any part of the cargo which in his opinion, may
represent a potential hazard to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants;
viii. To ensure that passengers are briefed on the location of emergency exits and
the location and use of relevant safety and emergency equipment;
ix. To take measures as necessary for the safety of the flight and in this respect, he
may take such reasonable measure as is necessary to ensure order and
discipline on board the aircraft; and
x. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
