General Manager Operations and sales
Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, General Manager Operations and sales play a key role in the Organization's business and operational plans.
The General Manager Operations and sales will collaborate with the executive management team to sustainably manage operations and sales, to run smoothly in a manner that will keep the Company's pul Company Business. This position will provide the right person with International exposures and potential to achieve one's career objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategy execution - business and operational plans, roadmaps budgets, targets, objectives, priorities, schedules, project plans
Managing Company external and internal audits by ensuring audit information requirements are provided and management responses are timely
Assist in preparation of annual budgets and budgetary control through variance analysis.
Operational implementation and execution - monitoring, checking & corrective action Resource and capacity management - availability and optimization - work allocation; workload and workflow monitoring: equipment, infrastructure & tools
Risk management - identification, assessment & corrective action/escalation
Operational efficiency (maintenance, effectiveness & optimization) - procedures, processes & workflows, systems, policies, SOP's, SLA's, performance standards
Compliant - Legal and Regulatory (Insurance Act of 2000, Insurance regulations of 2009, the VAT Act of 2004, Company Act and all relevant laws of the country)
Compliance with internal and external requirements Strategy development and translation of company and department strategy
Team direction and guidance (purpose; values; goals; alignment)
Team member performance - role clarity and objectives; performance reviews, feedback; corrective actions
Team member skill level (training: individual development plans, coaching, career planning)
To serve Board of Directors, fellow senior management team, Sanlam Emerging Markets, Santam
Maintain Customers - direct, brokers, agents, other 3rd parties Prepare SLA to Suppliers, partners and service providers (e.g. loss assessors, adjuster, legal advocates and medical officers, marketing agencies, Reinsurers, Banks and Micro-financial Institutions. Brokers
Prepare Board Packs and Attend Board Meeting of Directors each quarter
Deputizing Chief Executive Officer and carrying out any other duties delegated by ExCo Members from time to time
Preparing report to Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority
Minimum qualifications and experience
Bachelor Degree in Insurance & Risk Management from reputable Higher Learning Institution or
Should be an Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) or IISA
MBA and / FCII or FIISA will be an added advantage
Minimum of 10 years' working experience in Management
Minimum of five years' working experience as ExCo Member
Proven strategic planning experience at the management level O Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Should have Leadership Skills
Should have strong interpersonal and Communication
Skills
Working experience with accounting packages
